XAVIER MESA

PAINTER

If the Mexican painter Xavier Mesa had been part of the movement determined as magical realism in the mid-20th century, he would undoubtedly have been considered one of its most important exponents. The entelechy introjected into his work is capable of transporting those who observe it into an atmosphere so strange and exuberant that due to its simplicity it could confuse and make one think that what is found there is one more scene of daily life.

In his work there is the desire to transmit -without major evocations- a modern and current content, since he elaborates a discourse of reality itself. In his work he playfully fights conceptions originating from the common sense of the viewer, provoking not only sensitivity, but also inciting the intelligence of his work.

It leaves us with the strange taste of the unknown stuck in the throat and with a visual pleasure that reminds us a bit of the Belgian René Magritte with the satisfaction of the renovation and not the regret of the imitation. He knows that art must explain itself, although sometimes the explanation lies in not knowing what the right words are, or perhaps, not having the necessary words.
