GUILLERMO MÉNDEZ
PLASTIC ARTIST
Born in July 28, 1977 in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. He took courses on techniques and materials with masters Juan Nava Alemán and Gerardo Padilla; Renaissance Techniques with Luz Ordoñez and Engraving in Linoleum with Humberto Valdez.
The attraction for painting was in his bloodline. His grandfather José Mendez was a painter and one of the pioneering artists at the IZBA in Zacatecas. His father also dedicated himself to painting. He won first place at the I Bienal de Grabado in small format at the Centro de la Gráfica in Zacatecas, Mexico in 2010.
He was selected for the Concurso Nacional de Grabado José Guadalupe Posada in 2007 with his engraving "En las Cuevas de una Insondable Amargura". He was selected in the Concurso de Grabado y Pintura Chávez Morada in Salamanca, Guanajuato in February 2016. Also selected in the Concurso Estatal de Grabado for the commemorative poster for the third centennial of the foundation of the Colegio de Propaganda FIDE of Guadalupe, Zacatecas and the 90 th Anniversary of the Museum of Guadalupe, organized by CONACULTA-INAH.
