ERNESTO GILABERT

MURALIST PAINTER AND SCULPTOR

Born in Mexico City, currently a resident of Morelia, Michoacán, he is an artist passionate about all the arts and the history of Mexico. He studied restoration of works of art, painting and muralism with great masters such as Paul Coremans (Restoration), Raúl Anguiano, Byron Martínez, Foilán Ojeda (Painting) and Helton Tobey (Muralism). He was a teacher of painting and theater at the Ireland College in Mexico City.

It has important collections such as "Calacaturas de Gilabert", "Historia de México" and "Corazonadas". He has exhibited his works at: "Gradiva" Gallery in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco; Regional Museum in Aguascalientes; San Pedro Cultural Center, Palafoxiano Festival in Puebla; La Esmeralda School in Mexico City; and in several municipalities of Michoacán.

Throughout his career he has made several murals, such as: "Moctezuma's Encounter with Cortés", "Landscape of the Valley of Mexico" at the Banco del Atlántico in Mexico City; in addition to having pieces in the Regional History Museum in Aguascalientes; Ixtapan del Oro Church and House of General Andrés Puentes Vargas in the State of Mexico; and Café "Lady Pepa" in the Zona Rosa of Mexico City.

He has collaborated in the decoration of multiple restaurants within Mexico City such as: "El Baccanal", "Grab House", "La Catrina", "La Redacción" and "La Macarena". He has also made sculptures of Pre-Hispanic Figures in Acrylic, bathed in silver and has restored the Pan American Hall in the National Palace and the Main Hall of the Geology Museum of UNAM.
