OMAR RÍOS
PLASTIC ARTIST
I am Omar Ríos Martínez, a plastic artist and I paint with my mouth. I use different techniques such as oil, watercolor, acrylic, engraving and sometimes I mix it directly in the work. I frequently color the backgrounds, and my palette is made up of blue, red, green, yellow, and orange colors. When I do abstract works I make spots of different sizes, I like to work with tone contrasts to achieve volume in the images.
I consider myself like a growing artist, therefore I do not have a defined style of my own, I paint surreal, abstract, figurative, conceptual and modern works. I occasionally take photographs to support me in the realization of my compositions. I make images that represent my own way of seeing life because in it I reflect my values, concerns, thoughts, emotions, and feelings. This has allowed viewers to be amazed by my artistic ability, despite my physical limitations, as well as the motivation and awareness that is generated in people with the projection of my works.
I am proud and satisfied to have the ability to express myself artistically, even with my physical limitations, because my art expresses the concern I have for social and environmental problems that harm humanity. The symbols that I use in my work are of social influence, therefore, my own disability, music, my family, and my interpersonal relationships are the sources of my inspiration.
