LIDIA CHAIDEZ

She was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa in 1970. At the age of thirteen she had a car accident, since then paralyze from the chest down, and needs to use a wheelchair. After this, she moved to the City of Los Mochis also in Sinaloa.
Since she was a child she likes drawing and at the age of 16 she made her first works with her mouth. In 1998 she joined the World Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists as a scholarship holder, where her works have been reproduced in Mexico and other countries through calendars, cards and souvenirs.
Her first mentor was the teacher Óscar Fajardo, and she was also trained in various techniques with Cuauhtémoc Velázquez, Bertha Rodríguez, Gerardo Uribe Aguayo and Hortensia Marrufo, among others.
For twenty years she has been a painting teacher at Asociación Paso Firme, Escuela Vocacional de Artes de Los Mochis and in her workshop, teaching drawing, acrylic and oil painting to people with disabilities.
She has participated in several individual and collective exhibitions in Los Mochis in many cultural centers such as Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, Centro de Educación e Innovación, Teatro Ingenio and Museo Regional del Valle del Fuerte; in Valle de Bravo, at Museo del Centro Cultural Joaquín Arcadio Pagaza. And in Mexico City, at Basílica de Guadalupe, MIDE, Castillo de Chapultepec, Lotería Nacional building and Museo del Chocolate, and in other states of Mexico like Culiacán, Cuernavaca and Dolores Hidalgo.
She has obtained several recognitions and awards in the plastic arts such as the Ahomense Plastic Arts Award from the Ahome Municipal Government in 2000, the Award of the Women Plastic Artists Contest of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in the Northern Zone in 2002 and the Municipal Award of the Ahomense Woman "Lore de la Vega" in the Area of The Arts 2019 granted by the Ahome Municipal Government.
Her life story inspired the book "El arte de la vida, una biografía pintada con la boca", by Erika Eloísa Cháidez López, winner of the National Women Writers Award "DEMAC 2012".

She considers painting as an essential part of her inner search, her way of personal expression and human development, sharing with those who see her work an approach to her way of revealing what she feels.
